Sunday, 5 July 2026 · The People's World Cup · Round of 16

The Commissioner observed a federal holiday (and a lot of fireworks).

🌍 On the pitch

🇧🇪 Belgium 3–2 🇸🇳 Senegal (AET) — Vol. 11's cliffhanger resolves in Auntie Elena's favor, and it took the full 120-plus.

🇺🇸 USA 2–0 🇧🇦 Bosnia & Herzegovina — Robin's first match as sole custodian of the United States: a win. We watched part of it in Two Brothers Tavern and there were nachos, A+ game watching experience! Nicole exits with dignity and Robin advances.

🇦🇷 Argentina 3–2 🇨🇻 Cabo Verde (AET) — No People's World Cup competitors, but a very exciting game nonetheless! Cabo Verde — population smaller than Vermont, at their first World Cup — equalized against Argentina twice. Impressive!

🇲🇦 Morocco 3–0 🇨🇦 Canada — Mikaela & Will advance

🇫🇷 France 1–0 🇵🇾 Paraguay — Mbappé now sits atop the Golden Boot race — tied with Messi at seven goals, ahead on assists. The cats continue to dominate.

📅 Coming up

🇧🇷 Brazil vs. 🇳🇴 Norway

🇲🇽 Mexico vs. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England — Lever vs England

🇺🇸 USA vs. 🇧🇪 Belgium — Robin vs Auntie Elena

The board will be updated once the dust settles and the commissioner has had a nap or two.

Let the matches continue.
