The Commissioner hosted a match viewing with a two-cuisine snack table, household-materials vexillology, and a pre-game press conference conducted in French. The quality of the football is mostly unknown, but we're having fun!

🌍 On the pitch

🇫🇷 France 2–0 🇲🇦 Morocco — The Cats advance to the semifinal. Students of sports history will note this is the exact scoreline by which France eliminated Morocco in the 2022 semifinal, I assume (there are no students of sports history here, including the cats).

Morocco exits, but Mikaela & Will do not exit quietly — see below, where their conduct in defeat earned more points than most nations earn in victory.

🖼️ Off the pitch

The French federation sat for a pre-game press conference (+5), at which the striker Geno issued the following statement: "Je suis grand, donc je gagne. C'est simple." The result on the pitch would appear to bear it out. Full transcript available upon request; the delegation declined follow-up questions and began grooming.

Mikaela & Will collected +6 for cheering and great sportsmanship, including an official post-match request to "tell the cats congratulations." The message has been relayed. The cats received it the way they receive all news.

Cross-federation solidarity was also on display: Türkiye cheered for Morocco (+1) in full face paint with a hand-crafted flag, and South Korea cheered for France (+1), likewise painted.

Following the final whistle, the French federation celebrated by consuming a portion of the ceremonial cheese board while officials were reviewing the match. The Commissioner's office has classified this as a victory banquet rather than theft, primarily because there is no enforcement mechanism besides the inevitable diarrhea.

📊 The table

The crown remains where it has been: Mikaela & Will lead on 71, having demonstrated that you can lose the match and win the day. Miles holds second on 65. Auntie Elena sits third on 62 with a quarterfinal still to play, which the Commissioner notes is a threatening combination.

Further down, a development: the Cats (51) have overtaken the Commissioner (50) on the strength of real points and one very quotable press conference.

Something something, table pun, did I mention there were snacks?
