In honor of tomorrow's fixture, the World Cup History Minute is releasing a new episode on Pheasant Island — a small, uninhabited island in the Bidasoa River that France and Spain have jointly owned since 1659, trading sovereignty every six months like a vacation property neither of them uses. It is currently Spanish. On August 1 it becomes French and regardless of what happens tomorrow, Spain is scheduled to surrender territory to France within three weeks, and no referee can do anything about it.
